Grapefruit Varieties

Rio Red

Rio Red saplings are among the most grown citrus varieties of today. Grapefruit trees are medium-sized citrus trees suitable for grafting. Grapefruit trees grow at a slower rate compared to lemon trees. Their drought tolerance is moderate, not too high. The soil chosen at the time of planting should generally not have too much drainage and be of heavy type.

With dark red skin and a flesh colour matching its skin, Rio Red grapefruit has a round and slightly oval shape. Weight of each Red Rio grapefruit is on average 400gr. The number of seeds the fruit has is quite low. There are about 1-3 seeds in the fruit. There is no puffing in the rind of this variety, which matures in January, and is harvested in February.
